Wild Grape Wine

Direction:

  • Crush the wild grapes with your hands or with a potato masher then place into a large food bucket.
  • Pour the crushed fruits with cold water then cover the bucket with porous lid.
  • Allow the mixture to soak for forty-eight hours.
  • Strain the liquid to a colander then remove the tiny particles such as fruit skins and grape seeds.
  • Strain again using a cheesecloth to remove the fine sediment.
  • Place the liquid into a large nonreactive pot and bring to boil.
  • Place the heated liquid back to the bucket and add the sugar.
  • Using a long nonreactive spoon stir the mixture until sugar is dissolved.
  • When the liquid has cooled to lukewarm, sprinkle the yeast on top.
  • Cover with a loose-fitting lid and nylon stocking.
  • Allow to ferment for fourteen days.
  • In a clean glass container, strain the liquid and cover as appropriate.
  •  The wine will be ready for bottling in six to twelve months.
